Best Ways to Travel to Prague from Venice
by: Dean from My Prague Sights

Hello Nata,

Thanks for your question. I wish there was an easy answer ;-)

Much of travel to Prague depends on the season and your flexibility. And, trains are only one option. It seems more and more people are finding good deals on flights within Europe instead of riding the rails. So, first, I would recommend considering a cheap flight from Venice. Depending on your dates, you might find something even cheaper than the train.

We like the search engine Skyscanner.com for starters. They have a few useful tips and consolidate lots of flight info and options at once.

Of course, we prefer train travel to Prague over flights for the scenery (and the environment). But this route usually takes at least 12 hours minimum. And, as of today (30.09.2011), I don't see one that is direct. Instead they have at least 2 stops with an approximate cost of $230.

Try a search on RailEurope.com for more details.

For more train travel info, I would also recommend reading through some of Rick Steves' info. He looks at the various ticket options and there are a few good links there as well.

The cheapest option from Venice to Prague is probably to take the bus. It's a 12 hour direct route without changing buses, etc. Times and fares can be found at Eurolines.

I hope this information helps you. Feel free to follow up with more questions or details regarding your trip.

All the best,

Dean
