My Best Cheap Hotels in Prague

Finding a cheap hotel in Prague isn't always easy. But with a little flexibility your efforts can easily pay off. Your reward? Cheap rates.

Best of all, you don't have to settle for the suburbs or a 30 minute metro ride to Old Town.

Here are a few selected cheap hotels in Prague that won't cost you a fortune in rates or metro tickets.

Cheap Hotel in Prague - Tips and Ideas

A discount hotel in Prague is generally just out of the historical city center. But each of these has good public transportation so you can get to the main Prague attractions in a few minutes.

You can find some wonderful, small family owned places with real ambiance and great service too. It's certainly nice, when a family member or even an owner checks you into your room personally.

City Bell Hotel Prague

The City Bell Hotel Prague proves that good accommodation can be close to the main attractions but far enough away from tourist crowds for peace and quiet.

The City Bell is in the lovely Prague neighborhood of Vinohrady. This is a popular area amongst locals for wonderful apartments and some of the best restaurants.

You can also walk to Wenceslas Square from here or use the metro station nearby to get around.

Of course, you get the benefit of a great price and pleasant family atmosphere too. And, the rooms are plenty comfortable.

Just because it costs less doesn't mean you have to forfeit comfort and style. That's what we love about some of the small hotels in Prague.

Tip: This hotel also has cheap apartments and family rooms that sleep up to 5 persons. More people generally means lower cost per person.

Hotel Gloria Prague

The Hotel Gloria Prague is a bit larger with 44 rooms, but it still has a quiet homey feel to it. It's well located in the always-interesting area of Zizkov - not far from Wenceslas Square and the main train station.

The rooms don't scream cheap hotel in Prague but just the opposite. They are modern with big comfy beds and nice clean tiled bathrooms.

Some rooms are a bit small, but how much time do you really need to spend inside. After all, the sights are a short tram ride away. You can be shopping on Wenceslas Square in a few short minutes and Old Town is a short walk from there.

Each room is equipped with minibar, cable TV and breakfast is included. The hotel has free internet access too. Who says a cheap hotel in Prague has to be cheap in taste?

We recommend the on site restaurant Sklepeni that serves a variety of cuisines. The Gloria also offers 24 hour reception.

Tip: For a different tourist experience, head to nearby Vítkov Memorial. Check out the views from the roof terrace and the history inside. It's well worth it.

Hotel Victor

I wouldn't call the Hotel Victor luxurious. But, you're here for the cheap prices, right?

And you just need a comfortable place to sleep.

Good access to the city is helpful too.

Well the Hotel Victor just mght be your answer. It's one of the cheapest hotels around. And it has good access to the city.

Hop on the bus nearby and you're at the metro line A in 5 minutes. This is the best metro line for historical sights, shopping, and more.

I love this neighborhood (Zizkov) also for its local vibe. Restaurants and shops here are cheaper since you're just outside the tourist zone.

Hotel Victor also has its own little pub attached to the hotel. You can take advantage of their beer tasting and brewery too.

Tip:  In warmer months there are plenty of outdoor dining and beer options nearby. Don't miss the infamous Zizkov TV Tower nearby or the view of the city from Vitkov National Memorial.
