Let's set the major landmarks aside for a minute and explore the hidden details in Prague. These are some of its most delightful elements, which are really easy to miss.
In this Where in Prague series, I highlight some of the goodies that bring the city’s streets to life.
These could be anything - maybe a tiny sculpture tucked into a corner, a mysterious face carved into stone, or a whimsical building feature that tells a forgotten story.
Warning -- these are NOT major tourist attractions.
Some are probably more popular than others. And, some I'm sharing out of personal curiosity. They keep me exploring and excited to find new bits to share. So, there are no rules with this list.
Here are a few to get you started. At the bottom of this page is a map with these, and others.
Ready to slow down, look up, and wander with curiosity? Me too!!
Below, you’ll find our growing collection of Prague’s tiny, often-overlooked gems. The list is slowly growing, so be sure to save and come back.
What happens when a Soviet tank gets painted pink? A national controversy and a bold statement on memory and art. While the original tank has evolved over time, this defiant act left a lasting impression on Prague’s urban history.
Tucked off to the side in Prague’s Main Station, a bronze sculpture holds a powerful tribute to Sir Nicholas Winton, who helped rescue hundreds of Jewish children before WWII. It’s a small but deeply moving detail many visitors overlook in their rush.
Near the entrance to Charles Bridge stands a towering statue of Emperor Charles IV. Placed here to celebrate a 500 year anniversary. Take a look at this beauty and take in the gorgeous views of the castle nearby.
In the heart of Old Town Square, a Gothic relic hides in plain sight. Look closely at the corner façade and you’ll spot the stone bell that gives this house its name. It's a quiet symbol from centuries past, nestled among Baroque neighbors. Can you find it?
Not what you were expecting to see in Prague? That's maybe the point. This odd, beauty stands proudly a few steps from Wenceslas Square - but hidden enough that most people will never see it. But, we're not typical. Oh, and there's more to see (and taste) right next door to this treasure.

I’ll keep adding new discoveries to this series because in this city, there’s always something just around the corner. A healthy exploration addiction.
